Buy at your Fingertips on MydinPay

MydinPay, launched by popular hypermarket and retail chain Mydin Mohamed Holdings Bhd, provides a seamless, secure and efficient payment solution besides attractive incentives.

The first 1,000 newcomers to use the app get a RM5 voucher, while the first 3,000 customers to spend RM150 and above using it will get a 5% cashback rebate.

Mydin managing director Datuk Ameer Ali Mydin said Mydin was the first wholesaler and retailer in the country to develop an ewallet app.

“Mydin has synergised with partners in various fields, including payment technology, logistics, goods storage and stock management to ensure we remain competent and agile in competing in the technological world,” he said at the launch ceremony at Mydin Hypermarket in USJ1, Subang Jaya, yesterday.

Present to officiate was Digital Minister Gobind Singh Deo.

Ameer said Mydin collaborated with WavPay to develop the ewallet app.

He said he was confident of a positive reaction from its users, based on Mydin’s good track record and experience through its various campaigns with ewallet partners.

“The unique aspect of MydinPay is that it allows Mydin to be more innovative by focusing on promotions, rewards, coupons and rebates tailored to Mydin’s business format,” he said.

Ameer said Mydin also catered to those who were not tech savvy, adding that when its customers started using the digital app, there would be a ripple effect for more to digitise their daily routines.

Gobind commended the hypermarket’s efforts, saying MydinPay aligned with the government’s efforts to digitalise the economy.

“Our digital economy is growing rapidly and we have great potential to elevate Malaysia in the global economic arena,” he said,

Gobind encouraged other industry players to follow suit and contribute to the growth of the national digital economy.

However, he said education for more to adopt digital technology was vital.

“There is no point having an infrastructure that allows technological development but with no one being able to use it. So it is important for us to explain to people about how this technology helps them, how to adopt it and how their business can develop a lot faster with the technology today,” he said.
